Starting next week a professional survey company will be calling residents of Mesa County and conducting the Community Health Needs Assessment Survey.
Kristy Westerman with the Mesa County Health Department says its a worth while survey. "This is really an important survey for our community because it gives our public health leaders an opportunity to see where we are doing well and where we need to improve," says Westerman.
All zip codes in Mesa County will be surveyed, it takes about 20 minutes to answer the questions, the county wants to complete a minimum of one thousand surveys.
Brian Barry, the director of planning and business at St. Mary's Hospital says, "It allows us to understand the trends and the history involved with health needs in the community in order to allocate resources in the future and help those organizations prioritize their efforts around the actual needs of the community."
Barry says the data is also helpful when applying for grants and identifying community needs.
