Van Catches on Fire for the Second Time

A van caught fire for the second time in less than 24 hours.

The van is located in an alley near the 100 block of Belford and Teller. It caught fire for a second time around 4:00 a.m. Thursday morning. Crews were able to put the flames out quickly.

The van first caught fire around 3:00 p.m. yesterday. Firefighters were able to put it out but not before it spread to a nearby apartment building. Firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof of the complex to vent the fire and put it out. Damage to the apartment building is estimated at 20-thousand dollars. The Red Cross is now assisting people who live there.
