County Budget Approved
The 2009 budget for Mesa County went down 2.8 percent; the budget for 2009 is now 177 million dollars.
In 2009 the county is investing more in its infrastructure and spending conservatively on its operating costs.
County officials say the reason for the decreased budget for next year is because of the overall economy.
More than a quarter of next year’s budget is going towards public safety. The Sheriff's Office is creating a new traffic unit and expanding its alternative sentencing programs.
