A miscommunication within the Toys for Tots organization may make things difficult for Western Slope children this Christmas.

On Wednesday morning, Rich Griffin, the coordinator of the Toys For Tots program for the Western Slope, said that someone went to Toys For Tots donation locations in Glenwood, Rifle and Basalt, posing as Griffin and stole all of the toys that had been donated. It turns out that the toys were collected by a Toys for Tots employee, but instead of being delievered to children on the Western Slope the toys were taken to Denver. A representative within the organization said that the toys will not be returned to the Western Slope for dispursement.

Toys For Tots needs help now more than ever. The program is set to start handing out toys Thursday and now they don't have any to give. In Grand Junction, there are donation centers at any Big-O Tires location, the Wal-Mart on Rim Rock drive, Taco Bell locations, Alpine Bank and Coloramo Credit Union. You can also drop off toys at KKCO 11 News at 2325 Interstate Avenue.

Toys For Tots says they are in need of bigger toys that cost ten dollars and up.
