64 million people are expected to hit the road over the next few days, down 1.5 million from last year.

Analysts say more people are staying home to save money. But even though there are less travelers, there are still lots of delays thanks to mother nature.

"I fell cheated, pissed off and frustrated," Elvy Roberts told 11 News on Tuesday morning while he was waiting at the Grand Junction Greyhound station downtown.

Roberts wasn't exactly full of holiday cheer after waiting for more than ten hours for his bus.

"I'll be excited if we can get out of here."

Snowy roads and staffing issues kept the bus in the terminal longer than expected.

Roberts is just one of more than three million traveling by train or bus.

At the Grand Junction Airport Tuesday things were better than at the bus station, only a few minor delays and the weather seemed to hold up.

Tanner Berschel flew in with his mom from Phoenix had his mind on seeing his grandma.

"I'm excited to watch a movie with her," he told 11 News.

He was even more excited thinking about Santa.

"He's getting his sleigh ready."

Five-year-old Tanner, his brother and his mom are just a few of 8.5 million people that will take to the skies to get home for the holidays.

Analysts say more drivers are taking to the roads since gas prices have tankedout, now averaging $1.66 per gallon across the country.

Alfredo Velasco and his girlfriend were killing two birds with one stone visiting family for the holidays and moving.

"That's kind of good that gas came a little bit. I hope it comes down more."

He's driving from New York to California and says it's a long drive but worth it.

"It's been a long time since I've seen my family so I'll be excited to see them," said Velasco.
