A Man’s camper and truck were engulfed in flames Monday night.
According to the Grand Junction fire Department, the fire started when combustibles, laying next to a generator in the bed of the man's truck, caught fire and spread to the camper.
Grand Junction Fire Crews responded to the fire at a campsite near the Roller Dam on the Gunnison River. While fighting the flames, one firefighter had to be treated for injuries, after he slipped on some ice.
Both the camper and the truck are considered a total loss, and damage is estimated at $8,000. The man who was living in the camper escaped without injury, but unfortunately he has now lost his place to live. Red Cross was contacted and is providing assistance to him.
