It was a happy new year for one Grand Junction family tonight, as they welcomed their son home from Afghanistan.
Army specialist Troy Bunce has spent the past 5 months serving in Afghanistan as a radio telephone operator.
Today he made the 26 hour flight all the way from the east asian country back to Grand Junction.
The 21 year old says he looks forward to spending some time relaxing at home.
He says he's grateful he made it back in time to kick off the New Year with his friends and family.
"It means a lot to me, I wish it was before, but you gotta wait to get out of the country,” says Bunce.
Specialist Bunce will get to spend two weeks here in the valley before returning to Afghanistan.
