The numbers are in and it doesn't look good, foreclosure filings in Mesa County in 2008 were up almost 20 percent from 2007.
According to the end of the year report from the Mesa County Public Trustee there were 468 foreclosure filings last year compared to 394 in 2007, a jump of 19 percent. Paul Brown, Mesa County’s Public Trustee says there is a silver lining, that is more of those homes were sold and cured, that’s a three percent increase over the year before.
Brown says if you are facing foreclosure you have options, “if you get a notice from us that you are being foreclosed on, it's not the end of the world there are options; you can talk to us or you can talk to the lender, sometimes we can help you get out of it.”
Many are hoping for a better first quarter in 2009, those numbers are expected out at the end of March.
