Proposed Strip Club Protested at City Hall

"Women are not objects" and "say no to strip clubs" were a few of the messages on signs that protesters held up in front of City Hall Wednesday night.

About a dozen protesters braved the cold to voice their opinions about a possible gentlemens club on Colex drive.

The potential club owner felt that the zoning requirements would be met. An appeal was filed after the planning commission denied a conditional use permit.

Tonight, city council set the hearing date for January 21th and these protesters want city council members to know how exactly how they feel about it.

“Statistics show that crime rate increase in area where they have these types of establishments and all those are negatives that we think our city could do without, and be a better place. i don't think it will improve the quality of life in Grand Junction” says Mike McFarlane, a protester.

All the protesters sat in on the city council meeting, but no new evidence or testimony was allowed to be presented tonight.
