The company who runs Grand Valley Transit says that bus crashes are rare in Mesa County.

First Transit, the parent company for GVT says it's only had two minor accidents in two years before yesterday's crash at D ½ Road.

Police say the driver of the bus went through a stop sign, crashed into a car and went sliding down an embankment.

No one was injured but the driver got a ticket.

First Transit says it does traffic and criminal background checks on all drivers before they're hired as well as a drug screen and the driver of that bus had a clean record.

If the final crash report shows it was the bus driver's fault, the company says he'll be fired.
