Early Monday morning a car was sent crashing through the windows of the Sentinel Printing Business, causing extensive damage.
According to Grand Junction Police at approximately 1:20 a.m. a 1996 Chevrolet Camaro was travelling south on 12th St. at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle while attempting to make a right turn onto Ute Ave. The vehicle hit a boulder and was sent flying into two large windows on the north side of the Sentinel Printing Business building.
When officers responded to the scene there was no one with the vehicle. The passenger, 22 year old Chad Walker, was found at 7th and Main with minor injuries. He was transported to a hospital and has since been released.
The driver, 37 year old Robin Martinez, was found at a residence in the 1100 block of Colorado Ave. Martinez confessed to being the driver and police say she was intoxicated. Martinez was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, careless driving, failure to notify police of an accident involving injury, and failure to notify police of an accident involving damaged property. She was issued a summons and released.
