After ten years a controversial rezoning issue in a busy Grand Junction area gets the green light from the city's planning commission Tuesday night.
The commission voted to change the zoning from residential to commercial on the south-east corner of 12th Street and Patterson Road to make way for a new City Market. The matter will now make its way to city council for the final decision.
The plan to build a City Market in that location was made all the way back in 1999 but residents in the area said the area was already crowded.
Now the battle may finally be coming to an end. The planning commission unanimously voted to recommend the rezoning by a six to zero vote.
