The Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce is siding with other local business leaders and the oil and gas industry seeking to put new drilling regulations on hold for 18–months.

A representative from the chamber says that the community is already seeing economic effects from the new oil and gas rules passed just last month.
The rules have yet to be implemented and the moratorium would keep it that from happening until July of 2010.

Ryan Longman head of the Governmental Affairs department within the chamber says that the rules should not be implemented until economic conditions improve. The legislature now needs to review the final rules before voting on the moratorium. The senate bill is backed by house representative Laura Bradford.
