It's a place where you can surf the web, learn a second language, watch a movie, entertain the kids and of course, read a book. It's the Mesa County Library, surprised?

For Creed Lance its all about firefighters and hotshots. A favorite reading topic for the youngster who visits the Mesa County Library about once a week. His mother Brandy Lance says, "It's great the boys are having a wonderful time running around and playing with other kids." An activity more and more people are looking into.
Shana Wade, Public Service Director for the Mesa County Library says, "This year we've seen quite a bit of increased growth especially since May on."

Kristen Woodard and her daughter Eliana were also at the library Thursday. "She came to listen to story time... We just moved here but we've been coming about once a week for the story time." But stories aren't the only activities Eliana and her mother enjoy.
"Its fun and educational," says Woodard, "meet other people since we just moved here."

And with the slowing economy it's just another alternative
to spending money. Wade says, "Its entertainment that is free with the library card. We have a lot of great new movies, books and Cd's."
Lance and her husband just moved back into Grand Junction. "Now we are back while my husband looks for jobs." Many people use the resources to refresh before a job hunt.

Next year the library looks to keep up the trend. "In this coming year when people are going to be watching their budget a little more tightly will probably see continued increases," says Wade.
