Railroad Safety

Knowing the rules about railroad safety could save your life; that's the message from a group of Union Pacific workers Thursday.

They spoke to students at Mesa View elementary about the dangers around tracks, shared safety tips, and showed videos to the kids.
It's all part of a campaign called “Operation Life Saver” is designed to educate both drivers and pedestrians to make safe decisions at crossings and learn the laws on trespassing on railroad crossings.

    I think this story was important. However, I think it missed the point that Mesa View was trying to promote reading and Operation Lifesaver happened to tie into the book they are reading. They call their program, "One book, One school" and are reading "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" by Kate DiCamillo. Too bad the students weren't featured for the real reason the media was notified of the event.
