At the Grand Junction Senior Recreation Center a good story is often told over a game of pool. "I get some good shots and some bad shots," says Frank Martinez. And today was no different, the talk was about the inauguration.
Fellow pool player Mr. Piland says, "People are energized they really do want change." Lloyd Jordan agrees, "I thought it went very well."
Jordan watched today's ceremony but has a few under his belt to compare it to. "I think the John Kennedy inauguration was basically the one that I was impressed with more than anything," says Jordan.
Even those that didn't watch the inauguration say it holds historical significance and reminds them of changes they've seen in the past. But for some the beginning of the new presidency already started poorly.
Don Opp said he wasn't happy with the amount spent on the event. "Well I think they are spending way too much money for the inauguration especially since we are in such bad economic times."
Spending for today's event reportedly totaled over $150 million.
"To me that's getting off on the wrong foot," says Opp. Cost aside everyone is hoping for the best. Because at the Senior Recreation Center change is not something you just talk about... Jordan says, "I remember my days when they had drinking fountains that said white only and restrooms and that type of thing."
its something you live through and that's something you can take to the bank.
