The Mesa County Coroner has just released the identity of the man killed in the multi-vechicle crash on Interstate 70. 43-year-old Efrain Holguin-Cervantes of rifle was the man killed in the crash.
The chain reaction crash started with a truck headed westbound on I-70. Troopers say the driver, 50-year-old Enrique Simental of New Mexico, lost control and the truck spun out.
When the pick up truch he was driving stopped, State Patrol says Holguin-Cervantes got out and was hit by a passing car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cars driving through did not see the accident in time and troopers say there were three more crashes in the same area. Those crashes sent two people to the hospital. One of those victims is no longer listed in the patient director, we do not know the condition of the other patient.
The driver of the truck that started the crash, Enrique Simental has been cited for careless driving.. the crashes are still under investigation.
