A man is recovering this morning after his van fell 120 feet down a cliff in the monument.

Officials say that at about 5 o'clock last night -the driver of the van drove off Rim Rock Road near Red Canyon.

When crews arrived they found the van balancing off the side of a cliff.

Grand Junction Fire and Search and Rescue worked for more than an hour to get the man out of the van.

The driver had several unknown injuries and was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

Park rangers believe he drove off the road on purpose.
