A man accused of shooting his autistic son in his sleep has just pleaded not guilty for reasons of insanity.
51-year-old Allen Grabe went before a judge Wednesday and entered his not guilty plea. Grabe faces charges of first degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.
Officials say Grabe shot his 13–year–old son Jacob Grabe while he was sleeping.
According to the affidavit, Grabe yelled at his wife saying he had to kill him because she was quote "ruining him."
The Mesa County Coroner says Jacob died from multiple gun shot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.
