State Representative Laura Bradford has pulled a bill just hours before it was set to go before the Colorado house early Thursday.
Bradford says it's because she has reached an agreement with Xcel Energy to discuss the future of the Cameo power plant. Xcel has previously said it would close the plant in 2010.
Bradford's bill would have conducted a study of the costs and benefits of closing an electricity generating site before the actual closure. After Thursday’s discussion with Xcel Bradford says she's confident the plant will remain open. Rep. Bradford says, "what we've been working on is the ability to keep the plant open by either converting or updating the plant in order to meet the current administrations goals in the coming years for emission control."
Bradford says this will save about 40 jobs and keep energy flowing to 75,000 homes and businesses in the grand valley.
