We're less than 24 hours away from the kickoff of Super Bowl XLIII -- That means local sports bars are less than 24 hours away from one of their biggest nights of the year.
This weekend, it's all about taking things to the extreme -- the biggest game of the year, the larger than life commercials, and the finest collection of party foods ever assembled. Staying true to the Super Bowl spirit, local sports bars say they're pulling out all the stops Sunday night.
"It's one of our biggest days of the year by far," said Paul Ruth, owner of The Stadium Sports Bar and Grill.
It's very important to us," said Amber Finch, manager of The Endzone Sports Pub. "We have a lot of fun and everyone usually has a really good time."
The Stadium Sports Bar and Grill in Clifton says crazed football fans will get to enjoy a lot more than just your run of the mill drink specials.
"We're doing a Mexican fiesta buffet, all sorts of drink specials after every score, we're gonna kick field goals in here for shots if you make one," said Ruth. "We're gonna have a big party here."
The Endzone Sports Pub in Fruita says its Super Bowl bash isn't too shabby either.
"We're gonna be having a big party," said Finch. "We're giving away two trips to Vegas, we're gonna be doing beer bucket specials and dollar shots."
Both bars say throw in some food and several huge screens, and patrons are in for one super night. With everything going, they say they don't know why anyone would want to stay at home to watch the game.
"It's the atmosphere," said Ruth " It's that energy with that crowd, and everybody cheering."
"It's gonna be a big party," said Finch. "It's gonna be a lot of fun."
With the numbers both say they're expecting Sunday night --
"We're expecting a large crowd for the Super Bowl," said Ruth.
"We have a huge turnout every year," said Finch.
-- Both bars have some advice for those planning on going out: Get there early!
