A memorial service has been scheduled for a Mesa State Student killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 70.
Services for Samantha Loy will be tomorrow at 2 pm at the Callahan–Edfast mortuary chapel
Loy was killed Sunday on interstate 70 near mile Marker 23 after rolling her car. She was ejected and pronounced dead on scene.
Preliminary reports from the Colorado State Patrol say alcohol was a factor in the crash and that she may have been using her cell phone.
Loy is a Central High graduate who was studying Social and Behavoial sciences at Mesa State. She also represented Grand Junction in the 2008 Miss Teen Colorado pageant.
According to the Fruita Police Department, Loy was pulled over shortly before the fatal crash but let go.
The coroner’s report has not been released.
