A 21-year-old is behind bars facing vehicular homicide and DUI charges, police say he was drunk when he slammed his SUV into a light pole, killing his passenger.
Investigators have just released the names of two people involved in a deadly crash on Highway 6 and 50 this morning. Grand Junction Police say 21–year–old Jesse Reed was driving when he crashed into a traffic light pole at 24 and 3/4 Road on highway six and 50 just after two–o'clock Sunday morning.
Police say a male passenger was thrown out of the car and died at the scene, his name has not been released. The other passenger in the SUV was 19–year–old Charles Troutman, he has been cited for having alcohol while underage. Police shut down Highway 6 and 50 for seven hours to collect evidence and clear the scene.
Reed is in the Mesa County Jail without bond he is scheduled to face a judge on Tuesday.
