President Barack Obama signed the nearly $800-billion economic stimulus package Tuesday in Denver, but what exactly does it mean for you?
Individuals can expect see their pay checks go up anywhere from eight to 15 dollars a week thanks to tax cuts.
Dr. Morgan Bridge, the head of mesa state's business department says the economic stimulus plan is on a lot of minds. Dr. Bridge says, "the psychological effect of the package is probably just as important as the dollar impact and will hopefully it will start to restore consumer confidence and people will start to spend those dollars rather than save them."
About $300-billion will go for unemployment, health care, education and saving state jobs. Dr. Bridge emphasizes "the overall goal of the stimulus is to get money into the hands of the consumers so we'll go out and buy stuff." A move that hopefully leads to business production and the creation of more jobs, President Barack Obama says the bill will save or create 3 to 4 million jobs.
