GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Tuesday marks Constitution and Citizenship day and there are even more newly minted citizens who can take pride in our country.

40 citizenship candidates from 20 different countries gathered at the Colorado National Monument for a Naturalization ceremony.

Each candidate took the Oath of Allegiance and were given a certificate honoring the day.

Last year nearly 8,000 people became U.S. citizens in Colorado.
