Michael Byerrum, the man who plead guilty to kidnapping a 10 year old and sexually assaulting another girl will serve consecutive sentences he will be locked up for at least 88 years.
Judge Richard Gurley sentenced Byerrum to consecutive sentences Wednesday morning. He will spend 64 years behind bars for the kidnapping charge. In addition, he was sentenced to 24 years to life for a second, unrelated charge of Sex Assault.
Byerrum spoke at the sentencing. He apologized and told the judge he wanted to spend the rest of his life behind bars so the young victim could move on with her life.
The Judge hailed the little girl as a hero. He told the court, she saved her life and saved the community.
