A seven–year–old boy is recovering at home tonight after the boy's family says a neighborhood dog attacked him., but the dog's owner says it wasn't their dog that did it.
Coby Williams says he was playing with his friend, named Vinny, in the Dinosaur trailer community in Fruita.
Coby says,"As we were playing Iheard a crack and saw a pitbull running towards me."
As he called for help, the dog attacked, "I said, 'Run! Go get help!' "
The day of fun for Coby and his friend Vinny turning into a nightmare.
As the dog chased them, Vinny searched for Coby's mom Amy.
As soon as she heard him, she says her heart sunk.
She found coby, rolled up in a ball, his arm torn up.
"The dog bit me so bad. It was to my bone," says Coby.
According to Fruita Police, the dog's owners did not have a dangerous animal license which they are required to have.
A woman who identified herself as the dog's owner's sister says their dog wasn't involved in this attack.
She says she was home at the time, and when police were called on scene, the dog was tied up.
The sister claims there are a lot of dogs around and there is no proof their dog attacked Coby.
Coby is resting at the moment and says he will be OK.
The dog was taken in by the Animal Control Unit of the Fruita Police. There will be an investigation to see if this was indeed the dog that attacked Coby.
