Statement From Halliburton District Manager Regarding Layoffs

Haliburton Company officials have confirmed that they have reduced their Grand Junction workforce, but still haven't said exactly how many jobs were lost. Employees told 11 News there may have been hundreds laid off.

The Public Relations Department of Halliburton gave us a company fact sheet. The sheet says that the company employees 1,400 people in Colorado, in addition there are about 9,000 people who work for the company in their Northwestern Region.

Halliburton District Manager, Larry Kent issued the following statement:

"It simply is not business as usual in the current economic environment and we continue to work hard to minimize personnel reductions; however, we can confirm, unfortunately, that there were some Halliburton personnel reductions in Grand Junction. Halliburton remains committed to deliver exceptional solutions and services to our customers in the Grand Junction area as we have since 1996."

    I guess Eric does not know how many of these workers have lived in Grand Junction all of their lives!

    Time for another oil shale bust. These oil people don't care about Grand Junction or the western slope and they are welcome to go back to wherever they came from.
