It was a first for the Mesa County Jail today as an inmate had a baby in her cell.
At about 7:30 a.m. today Shawna Cross gave birth to a baby girl.
Officials say the infant came so fast the medical team didn't even have time to get to the cell to help. Two deputies ended up delivering the baby.
Cross was being held at the jail on a $10,000 bond for probation violation. Mother and baby were taken to the hospital.
