Grand Junction, Colo. (AP) - A Mesa County man accused of attempting to run over an off-duty Grand Junction police officer has pleaded guilty to three charges.
Twenty-three-year-old Corey Marcella entered his plea this week to felony charges of attempted vehicular homicide and menacing with a deadly weapon, and a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol.
He had originally faced numerous charges including attempted murder.
Marcella was accused of trying to run down Officer Adam Winch in April 2008 while Winch was jogging.
Winch told authorities the car driven by Marcella stopped in front of him at about 2 a.m. He said two people inside got out and threatened him, then got back in the car and tried to run him down.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 12.
