A Grand Junction man accused of raping a woman and then trying to kill her has pleaded not guilty.
68-year-old William Rydell is charged with attempted murder and sexual assault.
Police believe Rydell sexually assaulted a woman in his apartment off of Bookcliff Avenue in December and say he admitted to choking her then trying to kill himself.
He is being held in the Mesa County jail on a $500,000 bond.
Rydell’s trial is scheduled for August.
