World War II veterans from Mesa County are hoping for a big turnout tomorrow at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway
for the Western Slope Honor Flight 5k run, walk.

The Western Slope Honor Flight is part of a national organization that raises money to send WWII vets to Washington D.C to visit their memorial at no cost to the vets. It's an honor many would never be able to do without help.

The group plans to send 85 vets on the trip and needs $40,000 to pull it off. The 5k walk begins at 8 a–m, Saturday and costs $35.
