It's spring cleaning time and Mesa County is sponsoring free days at the landfills.
Officials say all waste materials entering the landfill or transfer stations on free days must be tarped and secured as untarped/unsecured loads will be turned away without exception.
Organizers say high winds can close the facilities so you should call 970-241-6846 to check for closures.
Free days are:
Gateway Transfer Station: April 4 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
De Beque Transfer Station: April 11 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Mesa County Landfill: April 18 from 8 a.m - 5:30 p.m.
Fruita Transfer Station: April 25 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
