LOVELAND SKI AREA (KUSA) - Colorado's latest spring storm didn't bring as much snow as expected, but several inches still dropped in the high country and that fresh powder was something skiers and snowboarders just couldn't pass up as the ski season winds down

Saturday morning was a busy one for Brett Butson, as he worked to get a steady stream of cars parked at the Loveland parking lot.

"Stacking cars at the Loveland parking lot, everyone is out today a lot of familiar faces," said Butson.

For Fort Collins resident Amy Nepereny it was a day not to miss because it marked her last ski trip of the season before Loveland closes in May.

"We were not going to miss it, we came up from Fort Collins and this is our last for the year," said Nepereny.

The best part; it's a powder day without the traffic hassle thanks to roads that turned out much better than expected.

"We were expecting snow all over the place and cars in ditches and there was nothing," said Nepereny.

Despite the lower than expected snow totals, Loveland Spokesperson John Sellers says in the past few weeks the snow has been adding up.

"We got a ton of new snow recently we reported 9 inches this morning and got almost 5 feet in the last two weeks and 86 inch base so conditions are amazing," said Sellers.

With some of that snow falling along the Front Range, Sellers says skiers and snowboarders are still in a winter state of mind which helps boost business.

"Put the mountain bikes away for another month and come back up and ski,"said Sellers.

It might explain why Loveland's parking lot is filling so fast, not that Butson minds.

"Lot's almost full," said Butson.

As soon as the lot is loaded it's his turn to make some turns of his own.

"Soon as I fill up my lot I'll be all set," said Butson.
