Good Samaritan accidentally causes school lockdowns

Officers on scene told 11News construction conpant surveyor John Lintner spotted what he thought was a gun on the in the middle of the Grand Avenue bridge accidentally caused several school lockdowns.

According to the officer, Lintner stopped his car to pick up what he thought was a real gun in the roadway. Lintner realized it was an air soft gun and returned with it to his car. A passerby called police reporting a man with a gun in the area.

Immediately, schools in the Riverside area went into 'shelter in place' mode as a precaution while police responded.

Lintner's vehicle was spotted a short time later parked near 25 and Patterson Roads. and put him in handcuffs while they checked his story.

He was released a short time later after police determined he was not a threat. All schools are back to normal at this time according to District 51 officials.

11News interviewed Lintner and will have the full story tonight at 5:30 and 10 p.m.
