Felony charges against a man accused of giving alcohol to Derrick Maxfield have been dropped.
24–year–old Jason Carley is now facing a single misdemeanor count of providing alcohol to an underage person.
The felony charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor was dropped because Maxfield is not under 18 and the District Attorney's office says it did not have enough evidence to prove Carley directly gave alcohol to a 17 year old girl present the night he gave also allegedly gave alcohol to Maxfield.
According to court records Carley admitted to buying alcohol for Maxfield at a liquor store on Patterson Road.

Yeah that whole case was bogus. Mesa County D.A.'s were just trying to make an example of Mr. Carley. Point made and probably taken. Don't buy alcohol for kids.
