Officials have just confirmed to 11News that 64-year-old Jerry Louis Nemnich is the suspect in the 1975 slayings of a Grand Junction woman and her daughter.

The 64-year-old is also listed in the inmate look up system for the Mesa County Jail. He is being held without bond.

Police have scheduled a news conference for 3 p.m. this afternoon.

Yesterday, police said they had made an arrest in the murders but did not release the suspect's name.

In 1975 24-year-old Linda Benson and her 5-year-old daughter Kelley were killed in a Grand Junction apartment.

Back in November 11News brought you an in–depth report on this cold case.

Officials told us they had sent evidence in the case to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for DNA profiling.

The suspect will appear in court this afternoon and a news conference is scheduled for 3 p.m.

11 News will be there and bring you updates. We'll also stream the news conference live on our web channel. Just log back on at 3 p.m. and click on the link to the live stream.
