Woman hits child, stops briefly, leaves the scene

Police are looking for an elderly woman who hit a 4-year-old child with her car this afternoon.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. 1130 Colorado Avenue.

Witnesses tell 11 News that the child and his mom were crossing Colorado Avenue when the woman hit the boy with her car.

The driver got out to see if the child was ok and then took off.

Staff members at The Opportunity Center across the street called 911.

Officials know who the woman is but have not been able to locate her.

She could face charges of careless driving.
