During the Grand Junction Tax Day Tea Party, a Front Range City Councilman officially threw his name into the hat for 2010 U.S. Senate race against current Senator Michael Bennet.

Aurora man Ryan Frazier told a crowd of more than 2,700 at Lincoln Park he officially turned in his petition to form an exploratory committee Wednesday and that he will seek the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

During an energetic speech at the rally, Frazier said embracing the free market and limiting government growth and control are the keys to economic recovery.

The military vet and small business owner says he made it a point to make his announcement on the Western Slope.

"I want to show folks my commitment to represent all of Colorado," said Frazier. "I may be from Aurora, but I will represent Colorado and I will represent them and that's why I'm here today."

Frazier says he plans to make many more trips to the Western Slope during the campaign.
