Delta County officials have released the name of a man presumed dead after a canoe capsized in Crawford Reservoir yesterday afternoon.

Delta County Sheriff Fred McKee says search crews "have to assume the worst" in their recovery efforts to find 22-year-old Tyler Korthuis of Delta. Colorado Park Service crews are searching the water with sonar to find his body.

Korthius and 22-year-old Stacy Bjerk were in a canoe on the water yesterday afternoon when their boat capsized. Authorities don't suspect foul play, but rough waters instead.

Crews searched for hours yesterday for Korthuis but had to call it off in the early evening because of bad weather. If the search is unsuccessful tonight they'll continue tomorrow.

Bjerk was treated and released.

B&D - Words alone cannot start to ease the devastation you feel. Your loss is our loss and hits so close to home. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and if there is anything friends can do - they can help by being friends. Remain strong and steady in your faith when times like these have no explaination.

My heart pours out to the Korthuis family. We know Tyler's Grandparents from Roggen, Colorado. I just pray for the Lord's tender mercy and grace on this family. May the Lord give you all a supernatural strength and courage that only He can give. We will be praying for you all.
