CSP Investigating Serious Motorcycle Crash, Driver in Critical Condition

A man was listed in critical condition Sunday, after authorities say he was thrown off of his motorcycle near the town of Mesa.

The crash happened just before 9:30pm Saturday along Highway 330 near mile marker 3.

Colorado State Troopers say 34-year-old Roy Rice was driving down the highway when he missed a curve, drove off the road, and was thrown off of his bike. Crews found him at the bottom of an embankment in a ditch.

Officials say he was not wearing a helmet and was rushed to the hospital with injuries to his head, pelvis, and chest.

Troopers say their investigation into the crash is ongoing, but they believe speed and alcohol were both factors.
