Grand Junction Police have arrested a man who matches the description of a purse snatcher who has struck twice in the past few days.
Police have just arrested 19-year-old Adrian Peters in connection with an attempted purse snatching in Grand Junction Friday morning.
Peters is facing felony menacing, aggravated attempted robbery and assault charges. No mug shot is available at this time.
He was contacted near the Mesa County Public Library's main branch in Downtown Grand Junction this afternoon. Peters matches the suspect description of a Hispanic male in his 20s with dark hair and eyes.
There have been two attempted purse snatchings over the past few days. The first was Friday morning when police say Peters approached a woman outside Two Rivers Convention Center, pointed a gun at her and demanded her purse. The woman fought him off and he fled the scene in a tan Ford Taurus.
The second attempt was last night in Fruita. A woman was walking when she was approached by a man matching the same description who grabbed her purse. She also fought him off and he was chased from the scene by a man who was nearby and responded to her cries for help. The witness says the man got into a tan Ford Taurus and drove away.
Police aren't sure if the two cases are related and Peters was arrested in connection with the Two Rivers incident only.
