Bright red blood decorated the broken window at the Smoker Friendly early Wednesday morning. Employees say someone broke the drive through window and crawled into the store, cutting themselves and leaving a large trail of blood behind.

Darlene Massey describes what she saw on video surveillance. "He reaches through, puts his hand next to the register." Massey says the thief didn’t get much, "Three half cartons of Marlborough Reds."

However he did leave quite a bit behind. While crawling through the window the man cut himself on the broken glass bleeding all over the counter. "About that big of round there, it had ran down the side here on to the shelf here. The window casing was completely covered," Says, Massey.

He also left bloody footprints around the store. Something employees had to clean up this morning. And the cost for the stolen cigarettes? Massey says its, "about $71.25."

In the eight years that Massey has been working for Smoker Friendly there have been four burglaries. She says, "It makes you a little uncomfortable." Especially when she walks from her car to the store in the early morning hours; but she says it’s something you get used to.

Massey thinks with the amount of evidence police have in this case they will catch the thief. They also have the video surveillance. "And they have a good picture of his face," says Massey.

Smoker friendly turned over the surveillance video to the Grand Junction Police Department. If you have any information in this case you can call crime stoppers that number is 241–stop.
