Denver (AP) - Rookie Senator Michael Bennet says he supports a path to citizenship for those in the country illegally.
The Colorado Democrat spoke at a news conference today in Adams County where Congressional Democrats touted efforts in Barack Obama's first 100 days in office and in the new Congress.
Bennet said a path to citizenship along with increased border enforcement should be part of comprehensive immigration reform.
He says the path to citizenship should come with some requirements, including completing education, learning English and hold a job.
Colorado Republican Party Chairman Dick Wadhams says Bennet comes close to supporting amnesty.
He says the GOP supports strong border security and opposes amnesty.
