Lena Elliot has received the 2009 Individual Citation Award for her hard work in recreation.
During the 2009 Midwest Region Parks & Recreation Conferenece last week Elliot received the award because of her outstanding contributions to the park, recreation and conservation movements. She was recognized because of her commitment, support and advocacy for tennis in the Grand Valley.
Organizers say her volunteerism and undying commitment and passion have lent an enormous amount of credibility to the tennis movement and past, present and future tennis projects. She's spent more than 50 years advocating for tennis resulting in exceptional facilities and programs.
More than 150 parks and rec professionals from across a six-state region attended the multi-day conference held at Two Rivers Convention Center and Canyon View Park.
