Even though gas prices are down more than a dollar from last year, travelers are still looking for ways to make trips more affordable.
Locally, more people are using mass transportation.
Statewide, in 2008, Amtrak ridership numbers went up more than 12% and Grand Valley Transit says here locally in 2008 it saw the same trend, only better; bus ridership numbers went up more than 17%.
So far, the company is already on track to set ridership records for 2009.
An official with Grand Valley Transit says although the bus scheduling doesn't work for everyone, it does work for a majority of people.
