A young woman is dead after rolling her car near an elementary school Saturday morning.

The accident happened in front of Chatfield Elementary School off D 1/2 Road around seven Saturday Morning.

According to Colorado State Patrol, 26–year–old Skye Cannell was driving west on D ½ Road when she went off the road, hit a concrete barrier, and rolled her car.

The car came to a stop on the front lawn of the school. Cannell was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected. She was pronounced dead on scene.

State Patrol says speed and cell phone use do not appear to be factors in the crash. As for drugs or alcohol, none were found at the scene and the coroner's toxicology reports are pending.

For all of us who had the pleasure to know Skye, we are all deeply saddened by her loss. She was a kind and gentle person with a big heart who loved nothing more that her family and friends. My heart goes out to all of her family and friends and I hope that the lord will comfort you during your time of need.
