A sexually violent predator is moving to downtown Grand Junction and the police department is notifying neighbors in a new way.

Grand Junction Police say 51–year–old Rick Studer is a convicted sex offender and he's moving into community corrections on Ute Avenue.

Officers are required by law to let people in the area know but instead of holding a meeting, they're showing an informational video on cable channel 12 and putting it on the city's website.

The police department says they used to hold meetings but had little response and the new move is a better use of resources.

Anyone with questions about Rick Studer or any other sexually violent predators can call Grand Junction Police anytime.

Why do we keep allowing these predators into our community? We don't want them here. When they commit that kind of crime they shouldn't be allowed to live where ever. The chance they will offend again is extremely high so why not just keep them locked up?
