A Grand Junction woman is dead after being struck by a car yesterday afternoon.

Sixty-one -year-old Susan Baker was riding her bike on B 1/2 Road near 30 1/2 Road in Grand Junction when State Troopers say she turned in front of the Geo Prism driven by 42-year-old James Pierce of Grand Junction.

Baker, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from her bike and was taken to the hospital where she later died.

Pierce was not injured in the accident. State Patrol Troopers are investigating the crash but say speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

This is very concerning to me.There was no mention of two children being in the car while this poor woman was hit.I have read two differant versions on what had happened to cause this accident.there was no mention of the authorities doing any type of drug and alcohol test to see if pierce was under the influence.
