A warning from the Mesa County Sheriff's Office regarding several reported burglaries at area boat ramps.

Deputies want people to make sure to lock their doors and leave valuables at home or keep them out of sight.

They say thieves target these areas knowing people will be out all day and if you're not careful you could return to find your windows smashed and belongings missing.

The Sheriff's Office has promised to step up patrols in boat ramp areas to help keep an eye out for thieves.

Too bad people can't just enjoy a day of boating without worrying about the safety of their property. Sadly, these incidents are on the rise. If you must take valuables with you, lock them in the trunk.
